Piano
Joaquin Gallegos is a multi faceted pianist/improviser currently based in San Francisco. Trained classically, he currently enjoys learning through the extensive classical piano repertoire, although he's also particularly enthusiastic about 20th century, Jazz, and Improvisational music. Joaquin has earned an AA in Behavioral Sciences, a BM from San Francisco State University and MFA in piano performance from California Institute of the Arts. He has had the privilege of studying with world renowned concert pianist Roger Woodward, as well as other prodigious musicians such as; Victoria Neve, Maria Amirkhanian, Vicky Ray, Wadada Leo Smith, Alfred Ladzepko, Ashish Khan, and Ulrich Krieger.
Passionate about teaching music, Joaquin strives to learn through his students and the music they enjoy. Constantly developing his teaching methods, Joaquin promotes an open, and simplified approach towards creating music. With attention to detail, his teaching is traditionally based through reading music, improvising, technical exercises, and learning theory. His individualized lessons encourage his students to have fun through learning meanwhile discovering their own personal musical aptitude, facility, and artistry with true confidence!
