With over 700 students and nearly forty faculty, Inspire Music is one of the largest private music studios in the Bay Area. Our diverse faculty brings a wide range of musical experience, offering instruction in many different instruments and musical styles. In addition to our private lessons, we also offer instrument rentals, accessories, and group classes.

Julian Shipp
Julian Shipp is a talented multi instrumentalist performing primarily in the Jazz idiom. Julian began playing the Cello in third grade, and by middle school was the utility player in band, playing Alto and Baritone Saxophones, Tuba, and Clarinet. Moving to California in 2000, he joined his school musical as Tony in West Side Story and began seriously studying Guitar and Bass. After focusing on Bass through high school at Drew College Prep, Julian studied Bass and Piano at The Lamont School of Music in Denver. Finally returning to California, he received a Bachelors of Music with an emphasis in Jazz Piano Performance from San Francisco State University.
Julian keeps busy in the greater Bay Area. He can be found every weekday at Ruth Asawa School of the Arts, where he teaches musicianship, Jazz piano, Jazz Labs (for vocalists), and is the accompanist for the Jazz Vocal department. Julian also maintains a busy teaching schedule at several local music schools and teaches Piano, Guitar, Bass, and bands all over the Bay Area. He can also be found with his jazz trio ‘The Midnight Moods’ at Mr. Tipples Recording Studio on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday’s if the month. He can be found performing Jazz, Salsa, Pop, R&B, and many other styles at small clubs and other venues around the Bay. Julian is interested in each students musical passions, and whether it’s Mozart, Monk, or Megadeath, he looks forward to helping you achieve your musical goals.
