Soprano Lora Libby has over 10 years of experience teaching private voice and piano lessons to students of all ages and abilities, in a variety of genres (including classical/opera, jazz, rock, blues, musical theater, and folk). Her commitment to helping students learn the basic technical skills of their instrument and building a solid foundation for musical expression has made her a sought-after pedagogue in the Bay Area. With a studio of over 60 private students that range in age from 5 to 70, she inspires her students with enthusiasm for their instruments and the encouragement to never stop being curious.

Lora's teaching style incorporates the use of interactive questions designed to help each student learn to discover and learn at their own pace, according to their preferred learning styles (kinesthetic, visual, aural, verbal, etc). Students with learning disabilities are welcomed and accommodated, and students on the autism spectrum or with learning disabilities are some of her favorite students to work with due to their creative thought processes. She also specializes in helping students prepare to audition for upcoming musicals, summer music programs, and local performing arts high school and middle school programs. Currently, Lora has several students enrolled in both the classical voice and jazz vocal programs at San Francisco's Ruth Asawa School of the Arts.

As a graduate of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Lora holds an M.M. in Vocal Performance, in addition to holding a B.M. degree from the Wheaton College Conservatory of Music (IL). She received the Dean B. McNealy Scholarship from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and has also been a finalist in both classical and musical theater divisions at multiple state, regional NATS competitions. She has also been awarded the Searfoss Prize in Vocal Music from the Wheaton College Conservatory, and the Garabedian Foundation Scholarship from OperaWorks.

Her recent opera roles include Papagena (Die Zauberflöte), Zerlina (Don Giovanni), the title role in Cavalli’s La Calisto, Despina (Così fan tutte), Lucia (The Rape of Lucretia), and Amy March (Little Women). Lora is also an avid musical theater performer, and her roles include Hodel (Fiddler on the Roof) Olive Ostrovsky (25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), and Clara (Light in the Piazza). In addition to opera, Lora is an avid performer of new/experimental music, and she enjoys collaborating with composers and artists across multiple disciplines and genres.
