Ryoko Takahashi

Ryoko's musical journey began at the age of 4 when she was enrolled in piano classes with the Yamaha Music Foundation in Tokyo, Japan.  After graduating high school she continued her studies at Kunitachi College of Music in Tachikawa, Tokyo and completed her BA with a major in classical music performance at Ferris University in Yokohama.  Ryoko's hard work and natural talent in college led her to win the coveted "Diploma of Outstanding Merit" prize from the Japan Piano Teacher's Association two years in a row in 2005 and 2006.

After graduating, Ryoko began working as an accompanist for violinists, flautists, and other instrumentalists for performances as well as student auditions and recitals.  Her many performances with the violinist Sho Kobayashi include a chamber music performance at Musicasa Hall in Tokyo in 2013 and a benefit concert for the victims of the Fukushima earthquake in September of 2017.

In addition to music, Ryoko was a preschool and kindergarten teacher in her home town of Tokyo for 4 years and continued to teach children when she moved to the United States with her husband in 2016.   While she continues to specialize in classical music, Ryoko also likes to dabble in pop and jazz when given the opportunity.  With her extensive classical training and experience in education, Ryoko is a patient teacher with an easy going nature who likes to instill a love of music in all of her students.
