Sergio Gonzalez

Tenor Sergio González, heralded by Classical Voice as singing with "great charm and excellent vocal ability," makes his company debuts with Opera Parallele, Cinnabar Theatre, and Pocket Opera in 2019.

González has most recently performed with The Mendocino Music Festival, Pacific Opera Project, and Island City Opera, singing the roles of Prunier in Puccini’s La rondine, Laurie in Adamo’s Little Women, Elvino in Bellini’s La sonnambula, Ernesto in Donizetti's Don Pasquale, Count Almaviva in Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia, Belmonte in Mozart’s Die Entführung aus dem Serail, and Don Ottavio in Mozart’s Don Giovanni.

From 2012 through 2015, González was a young artist with both the Des Moines Metro Opera and Opera Santa Barbara, covering Fenton in Verdi's Falstaff and Lindoro in Rossini's L'italiana in Algeri.

In 2013, González  performed the title role in Britten's Albert Herring, after having previously performed the role of Ferrando in Mozart's Così fan tutte in 2011, with the Green Mountain Opera Festival.

Also in 2013, González performed the role of Ernesto with North Bay Opera in Donizetti's Don Pasquale, going on to cover the role with Arizona Opera in 2014, before his most recent reprisals with The Mendocino Music Festival and Island City Opera, both in 2017.  Classical Sonoma describes González' "liquid voice” as having, "sparkled with graceful beauty and intelligent musicianship," and lauds, "his subtle mastery of expression and phrasing and his innate integration of singing and physicality."

González graduated from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music under the tutelage of Cesar Ulloa. During his studies,  González was seen as Ferrando in Mozart’s Così fan tutte under the baton of Maestro Giuseppe Finzi, Count Almaviva in Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia, Rinuccio in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi, Oronte in Handel’s Alcina, and Le Chevalier in Poulenc’s The Dialogue of the Carmelites. He currently resides in San Francisco, CA where he teaches voice and piano.
